Home Sewers….Keep your sewing machines out!

During these past few months of staying at home, many of you have reconnected with your sewing machines and tapped into your inner sewing goddess. Ahhh, you remember now how much you enjoyed it! Sewing is not just a hobby, it is a passion and now more than ever sewing is sustainable, as many of you Mask Makers know.

Sewing adds the benefits of creating what you need and desire, and trimmings add a personal impression to your creation. Let’s also not forget that sewing is stress reducing (except when you are sewing thousands of protective masks for your communities!) THANK YOU!

The projects are endless:

  • Rick Rack to jazz up some dinner napkins
  • Ball Fringe to add whimsy to beach/pool towels
  • Metallic Braids to glamorize your bedroom pillows
  • Brush Fringe dress up outdoor pillows
  • Elastic, if you have any left over…to make hair scrunchies!

SEW…Keep sewing! We would love to see what you are creating, please send us images of how you are using trimmings and we will post on our social media.

Stay Busy, Stay Creative and most importantly Stay Safe!

DIY Lace Espadrilles How To:

Following the manufacturer’s directions included in the packaging, cut out two front and two back pieces from the fabric and lining of your choice.

1. Lay lace across the right side of the front fabric, following the gentle curve of the pattern piece. Pin in place. Note: the first piece of lace should be set 1/4 inch below the top edge.

2.Continue adding rows of lace, tucking in each of the rows under the first.

3.Adjust the placement of the rows of lace so that the last row ends with the bottom edge.

4.Repeat adding lace to the right sides of the back fabric.

Cover the lace covered pieces with linings and pin together. Continue following the manufacturer’s instructions to complete the espadrilles.

Note:  Espadrilles will stay cleaner longer if you spray the surface with a protection spray such as ScotchGuard®.

How To Make a Beyonce Inspired Party Dress

how to sew a dress

The Holiday season is around the corner and anything festive is synonymous with dresses in my opinion. When I spotted the Nicole Miller dress worn by Beyonce I loved how it can be worn both in a chic way and be dressed down at the same time or be worn at work.

Although it’s a simple grey dress what makes it pop are the trimmings added to the finishing look. And the fact that is was worn by Beyonce otherwise nobody would be talking about it lol
